Minister Vijay Tamilan Parthiban informed the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly that the Chief Minister has directed the conversion of all state-run buses into air-conditioned vehicles. He stated that the government is exploring the feasibility of this transition, which would be implemented in a phased manner.
Opposition leader Edappadi Palaniswami questioned the timeline for procuring new buses, noting that many existing vehicles have already reached the end of their operational lifespan. He argued that a complete transition to AC buses within five years is not feasible and suggested that the government should prioritize replacing aging fleet units with standard new buses instead.
