The Tamil Nadu Post Graduate Teachers Association has expressed strong dissatisfaction following the state finance minister's recent budget announcements regarding pension and education allocations. The association alleges that the government has reduced the allocation for the Contributory Pension Scheme from Rs 15,997.05 crore to Rs 4,997.05 crore, effectively sidelining the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme promised during the election.
Association General Secretary Po. Anbazhagan stated that the budget includes a Rs 3,000 crore reduction in the contributory pension fund and a Rs 4,007 crore cut in school education funding. He criticized the government for citing the Gagan Deep Singh Bedi-led committee to claim that the Old Pension Scheme cannot be implemented without central government approval, labeling this as an attempt to evade responsibility.
The association has urged the Chief Minister to intervene immediately to revoke the finance minister's report. They are demanding the fulfillment of the election promise to implement the Old Pension Scheme and are calling for the prompt allocation of funds for retired employees.
