Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay announced an increase in the monthly pension for freedom fighters to ₹23,000 during his Independence Day address. In addition to the pension hike, he declared that the marriage assistance provided to the daughters of ex-servicemen will be doubled from ₹25,000 to ₹50,000.
Addressing the public, the Chief Minister extended his Independence Day greetings and paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation's freedom. He emphasized that recognizing the value of liberty is essential for national unity, noting that the country continues to progress by upholding the hard-won independence secured by those who fought against colonial rule.
