Pakistan's Supreme Court has ordered that former Prime Minister Imran Khan be transferred to a private medical facility due to concerns regarding his declining health. The court directed that the 73-year-old leader be moved to Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours, where he is to remain until September 16.
This decision follows persistent requests from Khan's family and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, who cited recent medical reports indicating a significant loss of vision in his right eye. Party spokesperson Zulfikar Bukhari welcomed the ruling, stating that Khan should remain under medical supervision until doctors are fully satisfied with his condition.
Khan has been incarcerated since August 2023 following convictions in multiple legal cases that he maintains are politically motivated. Despite his imprisonment and the loss of his party's official election symbol, the former cricketer continues to command a substantial support base across the country.
