The Tamil Nadu Collegiate Education Department has issued a directive prohibiting students in government and government-aided arts and science colleges from participating in political protests. The Commissioner of Collegiate Education has instructed all college principals to implement measures to enforce this ban, emphasizing the need for coordinated action between education officials, police, and district administrations to prevent student involvement in demonstrations organized by leftist parties and the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee.
In response, the Students' Federation of India (SFI) has announced a statewide protest for tomorrow to condemn the directive. The organization stated that students cannot be stripped of their fundamental democratic rights and rejected the government's attempt to monitor and suppress student political participation.
