DMDK MLA Premalatha Vijayakanth has urged the government to establish a new district with Virudhachalam as its headquarters. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, she argued that the current administrative structure causes significant hardship for residents.
She pointed out that people living in Tittakudi, Neyveli, and Virudhachalam must travel long distances to reach Cuddalore, the existing district headquarters. Given these logistical challenges, she formally requested that the government declare Virudhachalam a separate district to improve public access to administrative services.
