Opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami has urged the Tamil Nadu government to supply high-quality, double-boiled, and polished rice through public distribution system outlets. He suggested that the state adopt the modern milling techniques currently utilized in Andhra Pradesh to improve the quality of rice provided to the public.
Palaniswami acknowledged that implementing this initiative would require an additional expenditure of ₹2,500 crore. He has formally requested that the government carefully consider the proposal to enhance the standard of essential commodities distributed through ration shops.
