The Supreme Court has questioned the central government regarding when 40 vacant super-specialty medical seats will be handed over to the Tamil Nadu government. The court noted that 111 doctors in the state are currently awaiting admission to these programs and has directed the Centre to provide a formal explanation on the matter.
Furthermore, the court has instructed the central government to consider reducing the cut-off percentile for medical admissions to fill the remaining vacancies. The Centre has been given a one-week deadline to reach a decision on this proposal.
