Death Toll Rises to 160

The death toll from a sudden flash flood near the Tibet border in Nepal has risen to 160, with over 750 people reported missing. Among those unaccounted for are 133 Indian spiritual tourists, including 57 individuals from Tamil Nadu, whose families have urged authorities to expedite rescue and repatriation efforts.

Authorities suspect the disaster was triggered by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake in the mountainous region, which caused glaciers to collapse. The resulting deluge of mud and debris has buried numerous towns and villages, while destroying critical infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and vehicles.

The districts of Rasuwa and Dhading have sustained the most severe damage. The floodwaters have swept away more than ten hydroelectric projects and various tourist accommodations, leaving a trail of widespread destruction across the affected areas.
