PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has raised concerns over the rapid depletion of the Pallikaranai marshland, noting that its area has shrunk from 15,000 acres a century ago to just 2,500 acres today. He pointed out that several prominent areas, including Adyar, Indira Nagar, Perungudi, Sholinganallur, and Navalur, have been constructed directly over the former wetland.
Emphasizing the urgent need for conservation, Ramadoss urged authorities to take immediate steps to protect the remaining 2,500 acres of the marshland from further encroachment.
