United States forces conducted strikes against two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday. A US official stated the action was taken after observing Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel preparing to deploy rockets equipped with sea mines into the vital waterway.
Tehran confirmed the attack, reporting that several military personnel and civilians were killed or wounded during the operation. Iranian state media quoted the Revolutionary Guards as warning that the strike would face a definitive response and punishment.
The military action follows a warning from President Donald Trump regarding the placement of mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The strike occurred shortly after Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, called for regional unity against the United States and Israel.
