Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration officials and the Navi Mumbai Police have uncovered a major racket involving the alteration of manufacturing and expiry dates on packaged food products. The operation, conducted between August 24 and 29 at Sadhana Enterprises in the Turbhe TTC Industrial Area, revealed that labels were being tampered with before goods were prepared for export.
Investigators seized 8,442 cartons linked to 10 exporter companies, with a total value estimated at approximately Rs 75 lakh. The stock included products from major brands such as Lay's, Kurkure, Maggi, Knorr, Rasoi, Hellmann's, Thums Up, and Limca. Officials discovered inkjet printers, thinners, and custom stickers used to erase original information and replace nutritional labels.
Authorities confirmed that the illicit operation involved entities based in Delhi and Noida in addition to those in Mumbai. The warehouse has been secured, and further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the distribution network.
