PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has urged all Indian states to strictly enforce laws prohibiting smoking in public spaces. He highlighted the severe health risks posed by secondhand smoke, noting that it claims 3.25 lakh lives annually in India.
According to Ramadoss, the impact on women is particularly concerning, with 1.56 lakh women dying each year due to involuntary exposure to tobacco smoke. He emphasized that these individuals are suffering fatal consequences for the actions of others.
