India is nearing the finalization of a trade agreement with the United States, according to Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal. He stated that both nations are currently establishing a framework to provide preferential market access, with a focus on creating an environment favorable to India within the U.S. administrative customs system.
Negotiations for a free trade agreement with Chile have also reached their final stages, with officials expecting to resolve outstanding issues within the next two to three months. Additionally, India aims to operationalize a free trade agreement with New Zealand by October. Agrawal noted that business entities from the involved countries have expressed satisfaction with the current progress.
Over the past five years, India has signed nine trade agreements with nations representing a combined GDP of $60 trillion.
