The central government is considering a one-time exemption from the three-language policy for Class 6 students for the current academic year. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the Supreme Court that the government is expediting discussions regarding this potential relief.
The policy, which is being implemented in CBSE schools under the National Education Policy 2020, was challenged in a petition heard by a bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant. During the proceedings, the petitioner's counsel urged the court not to grant further extensions, citing concerns raised by parents. The Supreme Court has adjourned the matter to July 17.
