DMK leader and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has responded to actor Vijay’s recent remarks regarding the MISA Act, confirming that the late M. Karunanidhi had vehemently opposed the legislation during the Emergency. In a video statement, Stalin detailed the severe hardships he endured following his arrest in 1976 after the dismissal of the DMK government.
Stalin described being confined in a small cell with ten others alongside leprosy patients, where they were forced to use a single pot for urination, resulting in unbearable conditions. He alleged that police frequently beat him, trampled him with boots, and incited life-term convicts to assault him. Stalin stated that the beatings broke his jaw and left permanent scars on his body, asserting that these marks represent the history of the DMK’s struggle for the Tamil people.
