Healthcare costs rise for Indians

Healthcare expenditure directly paid by individuals at the point of care has increased by 28 percent over the last five years. According to data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the average out-of-pocket expenditure per person reached Rs 2,767 in 2022-23.

This figure represents a significant rise from the 2018-19 period, reflecting a consistent upward trend in medical costs for households across the country.
