Tamil Nadu has emerged as India's leading textile exporter, surpassing Gujarat and Maharashtra. The state recorded textile exports worth $7.99 billion in FY 2024–25, securing a 21.84% share of the nation's total textile trade.
This achievement marks a significant boost for Tamil Nadu's manufacturing and business sectors. For the current fiscal year, FY 2025–26, full-year data is still pending. However, from April 2025 to January 2026, Tamil Nadu's textile and apparel exports showed a modest 3.3% year-on-year growth. This low single-digit increase is observed amidst global challenges, including US tariff issues.
