Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed these sentiments, noting that BRICS now accounts for 40 percent of global GDP and 50 percent of the world's population. He highlighted that the economic strength of the BRICS bloc has expanded at nearly twice the pace of the rest of the world, positioning the alliance as a significant hub for global innovation and trade.
On the sidelines of the summit, Prime Minister Modi and President Putin held bilateral talks to review cooperation in defense, energy, and space. The leaders discussed regional conflicts, with Modi reiterating that dialogue and diplomacy remain the necessary path for resolving international disputes. Putin also extended an invitation for Modi to visit Russia for the 24th India-Russia Annual Summit, which the Prime Minister accepted.
