Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in New Delhi to attend the BRICS summit and conduct bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in defence, energy, and technology, including potential upgrades to the BrahMos missile system and the supply of Su-57 fighter jets.
This visit follows a recent meeting between the two leaders in Bishkek, where Prime Minister Modi urged a resolution to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. During his stay, President Putin will also engage with several international leaders, including the presidents of South Africa, Malaysia, and Egypt, on the sidelines of the summit.
India, currently serving as the BRICS chair, is hosting the two-day event under the theme of resilience and innovation. The summit will conclude with the release of the New Delhi Declaration, following discussions on trade, investment, and global developmental priorities.
