Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in New Delhi to discuss strengthening bilateral ties ahead of the 18th BRICS summit. During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi presented President Putin with a copy of the Thirukkural translated into Russian. The two leaders set a goal to increase bilateral trade from the current $60 billion to $100 billion by 2030, a target that Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal noted will require consistent double-digit annual growth.
Discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in sectors including railways, mining, and steel production. The 18th BRICS summit, which begins tomorrow at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, will see leaders from 11 member nations gather to deliberate on global issues.
