The DMK mouthpiece, Murasoli, has launched a scathing attack on the TVK-led Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance, labeling it an "opportunistic cashbox alliance." The editorial questioned how much the TVK leader, Vijay, paid to secure the support of the Congress party and criticized the inclusion of former DMK allies, including the VCK, MDMK, and IUML, in the new front.
In response, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan criticized the DMK for its failure to politically confront Vijay following a stampede incident in Karur. Thirumavalavan questioned why the DMK adopted a "liberal" approach toward Vijay at that time instead of taking decisive action, suggesting that the DMK's failure to act contributed to the current political landscape.
