Public Protests Erupt Across Tamil Nadu Over Power Cuts

Residents across several Tamil Nadu districts, including Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, and Tiruvallur, staged protests and road blockades today to condemn persistent power outages. In Srirangam, demonstrators blocked the Tiruchi-Manapparai national highway, while residents in Vikramasingapuram held a candlelight march. Near Tiruvallur, locals frustrated by an eight-hour power cut obstructed the Uthukottai-Poondi road by felling trees.

During the demonstrations, former MLA Isakki Subbiah faced a public confrontation as residents surrounded him to demand answers regarding the electricity crisis. Protesters argued that the outages are severely disrupting essential services and urged the electricity board to take immediate corrective action.

Minister Sengottaiyan has assured the public that the power supply issues will be resolved shortly. He stated that the government is currently in negotiations with power generation companies to address the situation.
