Gautam Adani and his family have secured the top position in the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026, surpassing Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family. According to the latest report, the Adani family’s net worth reached Rs 9.23 lakh crore, marking a 13 per cent increase. In contrast, the Ambani family’s wealth fell to Rs 8.64 lakh crore, a decline of 10 per cent.
ArcelorMittal’s LN Mittal and his family claimed the third spot on the list. Their wealth surged by 93 per cent, allowing them to climb eight places in the rankings. The report attributed this significant growth to favorable pricing policies and the implementation of stricter steel trade measures within Europe.
The 2026 edition of the Hurun India Rich List tracks 1,810 individuals, each possessing a net worth exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. Collectively, the wealth of these individuals grew by 12.8 per cent compared to the previous year, reaching a total of Rs 187.5 lakh crore. The data also highlights a rise in the number of dollar billionaires in India, which now stands at 391, following the addition of 27 new billionaires over the past year.
Hurun Report, established in London in 1999, launched its Indian operations in 2012 under the leadership of Anas Rahman Junaid. The organization focuses on documenting wealth creation, innovation, and philanthropic efforts across the country. The Adani Group, which operates a diverse portfolio of publicly traded companies, maintains a significant presence in India’s transport logistics and energy utility sectors, emphasizing large-scale infrastructure development.
