Movie lovers have plenty to choose from this week as several new Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films arrive in theatres and on OTT platforms. From big-screen dramas and thrillers to romance, supernatural mysteries and action films, the week of September 21–27 offers a varied South Indian cinema lineup.
Tamil – Theatre Releases
Dorothy – September 25
Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Dorothy stars Keerthy Suresh, Sananth and Rishikanth. Set against a rural Tamil Nadu backdrop, the drama revolves around friendship and social conflicts.
Meesaya Murukku 2 – September 25
Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi returns with the sequel to Meesaya Murukku. The film features Aadhi alongside Ketika Sharma, Harshath Khan, Chaithra Achar and Nassar.
Lenin Pandian – September 25
Featuring Darshan Ramkumar in the lead, Lenin Pandian revolves around ordinary people taking on powerful forces. The supporting cast includes Gangai Amaran, Roja, Aadukalam Naren and Bose Venkat.
Nova: Phase One – The Arrival – September 25
Raiza Wilson leads this science-fiction and supernatural fantasy thriller. Directed by Milo, the film also features Dhruva, Advithi Shetty and Sendrayan.

The Paradise – September 24
Nani headlines The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela. Set in 1980s Secunderabad, the period action drama follows a marginalised community and its struggle for dignity and rights. Mohan Babu, Raghav Juyal, Kayadu Lohar and Sonali Kulkarni are also part of the cast.
Malayalam – Theatre Release
Aaram – September 25
Saiju Kurup leads the Malayalam investigative thriller Aaram. The story follows an officer caught between duty, guilt, fear and institutional pressure. Anju Kurian and Siddique also feature in prominent roles.
Kannada – Theatre Release
Spark – September 25
Kannada crime thriller Spark, directed by Mahanthesh Handral, follows an investigative journalist probing a major banking fraud. Niranjan Sudhindra, Rachana Inder, Prem Kumar and Bhavana Menon are among the principal cast.
New South Indian Movies on OTT
September 25 is also shaping up to be a busy day for streaming audiences.
Habeebi – Sony LIV – September 25
The Tamil period drama directed by Meera Kathiravan stars Kasthuri Raja, Esha M and Malavika Manoj. Set around a handloom-weaving community in southern Tamil Nadu, the story combines romance, family relationships and changing traditions.
Angikaaram – Sun NXT – September 25
This Tamil sports drama follows a talented 200-metre runner whose sporting ambitions lead to a legal battle for recognition. Kotapadi J. Rajesh plays the lead role alongside Sindhoori Vishwanath, Mansoor Ali Khan and Rangaraj Pandey.
Agadha – ZEE5 – September 25
The Telugu supernatural mystery thriller stars Kamakshi Bhaskarla and Shravan Reddy. The story follows Mahadevi as a mysterious death and a series of unexplained incidents take her towards a forbidden forest cave and a disturbing supernatural mystery.
Mango Pachcha – JioHotstar – September 25
The Kannada action drama starring Sanchith Sanjeev follows Prashanth, a Mysuru CD-shop owner whose father's death exposes hidden family secrets and pulls him into an unexpected criminal world. The film is scheduled to stream in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.
Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups – Reported for ZEE5 – September 25
Yash's gangster drama, directed by Geetu Mohandas, is widely reported to be heading to streaming on September 25. The film also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
However, viewers should note that while several reports list September 25 as the OTT release date, an official confirmation from the platform or filmmakers was still awaited as of September 24.
A Packed Weekend for South Indian Cinema
With Dorothy, Meesaya Murukku 2, The Paradise, Aaram and Spark among the theatrical attractions, and Habeebi, Agadha, Angikaaram and Mango Pachcha arriving on streaming platforms, South Indian movie audiences have a busy weekend ahead.
Most of the major releases are concentrated on Friday, September 25, making it one of the busier cinema and OTT weekends of the month.
