The Chennai Meteorological Department has issued a forecast indicating that an atmospheric trough, extending from East Vidarbha to Tamil Nadu via Telangana and Andhra Pradesh at an altitude of approximately 0.9 km, will influence the state's weather. Consequently, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some parts of Tamil Nadu today.
Moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and strong winds (50 to 60 km/h), is likely in districts along the Western Ghats, Delta districts, certain areas of North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Furthermore, heavy rain with thunder and strong winds (50 to 60 km/h) is predicted for isolated places in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Erode, Sivaganga, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Karur, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, and Namakkal districts.
Additionally, the department has specified that light to moderate rain with light thunder and lightning is probable until 4 PM today in five districts: Chengalpattu, Namakkal, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, and Tiruvannamalai.
