20 Jun 2026, 08:19 am
The Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) formed the government in Tamil Nadu after securing 108 seats in the recent Assembly elections. Following this, Vijay assumed office as Chief Minister on May 10. The TVK's head office regularly hosts a ceremony every Saturday, where members from other political parties join the organization. Today, over 200 supporters and leaders from various parties arrived at the Panaiyur headquarters to formally join TVK. Notable figures who joined include Gomathi Srinivasan, a former AIADMK minister from MGR's cabinet; Cumbum MLA Jagannath Mishra; actor Mansoor Ali Khan; and Menaka Balakrishnan, a relative of EPS. MLA Jagannath Mishra also merged his organization, Namadhu Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, with TVK. During the event, Minister Adhav Arjuna assured that all new members joining TVK would receive proper recognition. He further stated that TVK Minister Sengottaiyan was the first to voice concerns when the AIADMK deviated from its path. Arjuna attributed the influx of AIADMK members into TVK to the perceived unity between AIADMK and DMK.
