NEET Re-exam Today Amidst Strict Security Measures

21 Jun 2026, 05:33 am
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) re-examination for admission to medical courses is scheduled for today, June 21st, at 2 PM across the country. The original entrance exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), took place on May 3rd. However, it was cancelled following allegations of a question paper leak prior to the examination. In connection with the paper leak incident, the CBI has so far arrested over 10 individuals. This re-examination will be held in 551 cities nationwide and 14 cities abroad, with over 22 lakh students expected to appear. In Tamil Nadu alone, 1,42,489 students will take the NEET re-exam across 307 centers in 31 districts. Given the previous paper leak, the NTA has implemented stringent security measures for today's exam. Those involved in preparing the question papers have been kept confidential. Furthermore, the Indian Air Force and Army personnel are assisting in all stages, from printing the question papers to their transportation to the examination centers. Students are also subject to strict guidelines. They are permitted to bring only their admit card, identity card, and two passport-size photographs. Items such as mobile phones and smartwatches are strictly prohibited inside the examination halls.
