3 Police Officers Arrested!

The mysterious death of 35-year-old Sabarivarman, an undertrial prisoner in Kanyakumari Nagercoil sub-jail, has caused a great shock. As the post-mortem revealed 19 injuries on the body, a fractured hand, and signs of being tied up and assaulted, 3 prison guards have been arrested. On July 9, Sabarivarman, 35, was arrested by Then Thamarai Kulam police for allegedly selling banned gutkha products near Then Thamarai Kulam in Kanyakumari district. About 200 grams of gutkha were reportedly seized from him. Subsequently, Sabarivarman was produced in court and, as per court order, was lodged as an undertrial prisoner in Nagercoil sub-jail. However, Sabarivarman mysteriously died while in jail. Relatives, upon hearing this information, protested at Nagercoil Asaripallam Hospital and also engaged in a road blockade. Later, police arrived at the scene, held talks with the protestors, and tried to pacify them. Following an on-site inquiry by Nagercoil Judicial Magistrate Sathyanarayanan, Sabarivarman's relatives have accused the police of beating him to death. Meanwhile, the post-mortem report of Sabarivarman, which stated 19 injuries on his body, has caused major ripples. Following this, his relatives have been continuously protesting, stating that they will not accept his body until the police officers responsible for his death are arrested. In this context, opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin has severely criticized the TVK government over this issue. In a statement released on social media, he said that Sabarivarman's body had injuries all over, and his family members are protesting, claiming that the police beat him to death. It also stated that the Chief Minister, who controls the police department, should provide a proper answer to this. Similarly, BJP state president Nainar Nagendran, in a statement, questioned whether lock-up deaths continue under the TVK rule and urged Chief Minister Vijay to find the true reason for undertrial prisoner Sabarivarman's death without any compromise. Furthermore, Naam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman condemned Chief Minister Vijay, who spoke against police deaths during the previous DMK regime, asking what he intends to do about this murder committed by the police, which is under his direct control, during the current Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam rule. 3 police officers arrested... It was also revealed that there were injuries on his head and back of the neck. Following a complaint by Sabarivarman's wife that her husband was beaten to death, similar to the Sathankulam incident, 3 prison guards, including the jail warden, have been arrested in connection with Sabarivarman's death.
