The chariot festival at the Moongil Ayyanar Temple in Valavampatti village, Pudukkottai district, was cancelled today following a dispute over the denial of worship rights to members of the Scheduled Caste community. Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department officials intervened to address the situation. Authorities have taken the temple's processional deity into their custody and locked the deity's hall, prompting protesters to call off their demonstration. Police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain order and manage the prevailing tensions.
