The Tamil Nadu government has extended the deadline for the 7th State Finance Commission to submit its report until December 2026. The commission, currently led by retired IAS officer Alauddin, is tasked with evaluating the financial status of urban and rural local bodies.
The commission was originally established in May 2025 to conduct a comprehensive review of the fiscal health of local government institutions across the state.
