Kulgam Terror Attack... !

Two labourers from Chhattisgarh, 24-year-old Deepak Ratrey and 28-year-old Bhupendra Bhaina, were killed in a terror attack at a brick kiln in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday night. The family of Ratrey has alleged that the victims were targeted based on their caste and community. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the incident, describing the targeted killings as a reflection of a cruel mindset. This marks the first terror strike against migrant workers in the region in 21 months, following an attack in Pahalgam in April 2025. Ratrey was the sole breadwinner for his family, which includes his wife, son, mother, and a disabled brother. Bhaina had also relocated to the area for work several months ago. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh for each of the victims' families. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has condemned the attack and directed officials to coordinate with the Jammu and Kashmir administration to ensure the bodies are returned to their home state for final rites.
