The Tamil Nadu government has informed the Madras High Court that bike taxis are not permitted to operate within the state. During the hearing of a petition seeking authorization for these services, the government stated that any unauthorized operation of bike taxis will result in the imposition of fines.
The state government argued that a policy decision regarding bike taxi operations can only be finalized after a dedicated committee conducts a thorough review. The court has directed the government to expedite this policy-making process.
