R. Rajesh, a dedicated rescue volunteer and rappelling instructor from Kalliyoor, Thiruvananthapuram, has died after being swept away by the Kariangode River in Kannur. The incident occurred while he was attempting to rescue a stranded farmer, to whom he had given his own life jacket.
Rajesh was a prominent figure in disaster response across Kerala, gaining widespread recognition for his service during the 2018 floods. Throughout his life, he remained a committed volunteer and instructor, consistently answering the call of duty during emergency operations across the state.
