Tamil Nadu's major Dravidian parties, the DMK and AIADMK, have announced they will not attend the all-party meeting of MPs convened by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay today. The session was intended to discuss the Union government's proposed delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies.
DMK general secretary Duraimurugan stated that his party would only participate if the state government first convenes an all-party meeting regarding the Mekedatu dam issue. Meanwhile, AIADMK leaders criticized the Chief Minister for failing to consult party leadership before inviting MPs, confirming that their four Rajya Sabha members will boycott the event.
Other political figures, including PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss, DMDK leader L.K. Sudhish, and MNM leader Kamal Haasan, are also expected to skip the meeting. The session is still set to proceed with the participation of MPs from the Congress, VCK, CPI, CPM, and IUML.
