The Tamil Nadu government has announced a significant increase in the incentive provided to sugarcane farmers, marking the largest hike to date. Under this new policy, the incentive has been raised by over Rs 156 per year to support the welfare of those cultivating paddy and sugarcane.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced the decision in the Legislative Assembly under Rule 110, stating that the government remains committed to supporting farmers. With this adjustment, farmers will receive an incentive of Rs 709.50 per tonne for sugarcane registered with sugar mills, ensuring a total income of Rs 4,000 per tonne.
