The Greater Chennai Corporation has launched a special vaccination drive today to immunize stray dogs against rabies. The civic body has set an ambitious target to vaccinate 200,000 stray dogs over the next 75 working days. To achieve this, 30 dedicated teams have been deployed, with each team tasked with vaccinating 100 dogs daily, totaling 3,000 vaccinations per day.
In addition to the stray dog initiative, the corporation announced that the public can also bring their pet dogs and cats to receive free rabies vaccinations at these camps. Officials noted that a previous drive, which began on August 9 last year, successfully vaccinated 147,545 stray dogs.
