A massive fire broke out at a four-story building on Mirza Ghalib Street in central Kolkata around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of nine people. The victims included six men, two women, and one child.
Six other individuals sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Fire brigade officials confirmed that approximately 60 people were successfully rescued from the building without injury, and the blaze has since been extinguished.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire. Investigations into the incident are ongoing as further details are awaited.
