The Tamil Nadu Milk Producers Association has announced a statewide strike, declaring that farmers will stop supplying milk to the state-run Aavin cooperative starting the day after tomorrow. The decision follows a protest at the Pavathur bus stand, where farmers demanded a procurement price of 50 rupees per liter to match private sector rates.
Protesters expressed strong dissatisfaction with the government's recent 3-rupee price hike, labeling it inadequate. During the demonstration, participants questioned the government's priorities, asking why funds are allocated for luxury vehicles for MLAs while dairy farmers struggle to receive fair compensation for their produce. The association maintains that these measures are essential to protect the livelihoods of those in the dairy industry.
