Special trains dubbed 'Kanda Express' began operations yesterday to transport onions across the country and help stabilize rising prices. The initiative is designed to ensure a steady supply of the vegetable to major urban centers, including Delhi and Chennai, directly from Nashik.
The term 'Kanda' translates to onion in Marathi. As the government works to address market volatility, the current retail price of onions has reached 80 rupees per kilogram.
