The Tamil Nadu government has issued an official order allocating ₹42 crore to bolster monsoon preparedness across five districts: Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and Cuddalore. The funding is specifically designated for precautionary measures ahead of the upcoming northeast monsoon.
The allocated budget will be utilized to desilt key water bodies and river systems, including the Adyar, Cooum, Kosasthalaiyar, Araniyar, Palar, and Vellar rivers, as well as the Buckingham Canal.
