Flash floods triggered by the Bhote Koshi River overflowing from Tibet have killed at least 157 people in Nepal. The disaster, which struck the border region around 9 a.m., has left hundreds missing, including 133 Indian pilgrims traveling to Kailash Mansarovar.
Rescue operations are currently underway in the affected districts of Rasuwa, Dhading, and Nuwakot as authorities work to evacuate residents from high-risk areas. The tourism ministry reported that over 400 tourists, including citizens from several nations, were initially unaccounted for following the surge.
Prime Minister Balendra Shah has pledged full government support for relief efforts and expressed gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his solidarity and humanitarian aid.
