Jitendra Patil, a 43-year-old IT professional from Pune, is among a group of 60 Indian tourists reported missing following flash floods at the Nepal-Tibet border. The group, led by Mumbai-based mountaineer Milind Chitley, was on a Kailash Mansarovar Yatra that began on August 23 and was expected to conclude on September 6.
Patil’s wife, Pallavi, last spoke to him via a WhatsApp call at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday while the group was near Timure, heading toward the Nepal-China border. His final mobile activity was recorded at 8:07 a.m., and family members have since been unable to establish contact with him or other members of the tour group.
Families of the missing tourists, including relatives of Mumbai resident Chetana Gupta, have expressed frustration over a lack of updates from government officials and the tour operators. Authorities are currently working to trace the group, whose local logistics were managed by Richa Tours Pvt Ltd.
