U.S. Forces Destroy Five Iranian Tankers

U.S. Central Command forces destroyed five Iranian crude oil carriers on September 8. The action followed two separate attempts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to target a U.S. Navy warship with ballistic missiles over the preceding two days.

The U.S. warship successfully evaded the attacks and continued its patrol in regional waters. No American personnel were harmed during the incidents.
