Omni bus operators have significantly increased ticket prices ahead of the upcoming Vinayagar Chaturthi holiday on Monday. The sudden hike, which coincides with a series of public holidays, has sparked widespread frustration among passengers.
According to booking data on the Redbus application, fares from Chennai to Ramanathapuram have reached as high as ₹5,000, while tickets to Coimbatore and Erode are being sold for up to ₹4,000. Additionally, travel from Chennai to Tirunelveli and Nagercoil now costs as much as ₹4,800. Passengers have criticized the Tamil Nadu government for failing to intervene in these exorbitant price surges.
