Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged world leaders at the BRICS summit in New Delhi to ensure that the Global South plays a central role in international decision-making. He argued that the current global structure must evolve from a system of privilege into a collaborative platform where every nation has an equal voice.
To facilitate this transition, the Prime Minister proposed the creation of a 'BRICS Reform Roadmap' centered on representation, responsiveness, and rule-making. He specifically called for urgent, time-bound reforms within the UN Security Council and emphasized that international financial institutions must align their leadership and voting structures with modern economic realities.
Highlighting the bloc's maturity over the past two decades, PM Modi stated that BRICS will continue to operate through consensus rather than opposition to other nations. He expressed that the group is now prepared to translate its internal unity into tangible progress on the global stage.
