The old government hospital building in Kadayam, Tenkasi district, has remained unused and poorly maintained for more than 15 years. The building and its surrounding premises have now turned into a garbage dump, posing a serious health threat to the public and the environment.
Environmental and Health Hazards
Plastic waste, bottles, and garbage have accumulated throughout the hospital premises. Overgrown bushes and stagnant rainwater have created breeding grounds for mosquitoes, increasing the risk of diseases such as dengue and malaria. The presence of poisonous creatures has also raised concerns among the public.
Livestock Eating Plastic Waste
Goats and other livestock entering the premises for grazing are consuming plastic waste scattered across the area. This poses a serious threat to their lives. Photographic evidence of this situation has also been attached. Government Property Wasted for 15 Years
The government hospital building, which could be renovated and reused, has remained neglected for more than 15 years. There is also a risk of the premises becoming a location for antisocial activities.
The people of Kadayam demand that the district administration take immediate action to reclaim the government property that has been neglected for 15 years, prevent environmental damage, and bring the building back into public use.
