An alert has been issued regarding potential drought conditions in 12 districts of Tamil Nadu due to the El Niño effect. The affected districts include Tirupattur, Vellore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Ariyalur, Namakkal, Perambalur, Nilgiris, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Trichy, and Virudhunagar. As a precautionary measure, the Agriculture Department has been instructed to recommend short-term crops to farmers.
