Authorities have opened four sluice gates at the Billur Dam in Mettupalayam after water levels reached 97 feet. The discharge follows a surge in inflow, which has risen to 8,000 cubic feet per second.
With 8,000 cubic feet of water being released into the Bhavani River every second, officials have issued a flood warning for residents living along the riverbanks.
