The Chennai Meteorological Centre has issued a heavy rainfall warning for six districts in Tamil Nadu today, including Nilgiris and Villupuram. The weather system is attributed to a trough extending from North Karnataka to the Comorin area.
Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected in Nilgiris, Theni, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and the hilly regions of Coimbatore, as well as Puducherry. Meanwhile, moderate rainfall is forecast for the Western Ghats, the delta districts, and parts of the northern coastal region. Chennai and its suburbs can expect moderate rain with thunderstorms by this evening or night.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, moderate rainfall is expected to continue across the Western Ghats and the delta districts.
